I found this game while perusing ways to get Robot Arena 2 set up on Linux to play again. I downloaded your Linux build and had already found an annoyance where I can't select a collision algorithm with the weird shapes I was able to come up with. I understand that the game is in beta testing right now, but this is a little weird. Maybe I'm just new to the game and don't know what I'm doing.
We love RA2! A lot of the of the original RR2 community migrated over from the old RA2 forums a few years ago as RR2 gained traction.
I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble with the Linux version. Unfortunately we currently don't currently have an active member of the dev team for linux. The best I can recommend is to head over to the Discord server to see if the community has a fix. We also have a more recent build available there at the moment which might possibly address the issue.
Instead of Discord (for I'm a Free Software-centric guy), why not I playtest the game in future versions as a Linux player, and report my findings to one of your developers, if there is a Linux dev in the future, using Matrix via DM? That way, if I find anything wrong with it that's obvious, I could let you know that way.
For now, I'll use the Windows version on Linux Mint with WineHQ Staging, possibly Lutris ProtonGE build (stuff I don't think you'd understand necessarily well).
Thanks! We originally built the game to be a robot combat simulator so we could build out designs in the computer and learn to drive them before trying them in real life. It has evolved since then, but that was the original design goal in 2017. I’m glad you like it!
Yo active member on the RR2 server Emer here, the builds here are updated once a while, however, if you want to talk about the game, participate in tournaments, get help and advice, and chill join the discord! + You can get ai in there for your robots! I can't wait to see you there! (It's really worth it)Link
Dec 25 2022 windows build: Don't know how to make components "attach". I often have "5/10 components attached" and the only way I've found to force attachment is to edit my chassis and re-apply the collision generation. At this point, if I move things around they may or may not attach themselves.
Sorry about that! There are a few bugs in the “welding” system when welding to a chassis. Our workaround is to teach people to build with individual parts, rather than with the chassis builder itself. There are a ton of helpful tutorials and builders on the Discord channel who can point you in the right direction.
What part of it are you struggling with? if you are having trouble loading in after creating the chassis that is a known bug you have to just load it over and over again till it works. something I think could be used as a quick fix is adding three layers instead of two that usually works for me. if its something else I would encourage you to join the discord as the people there are incredibly helpful.
If it says that the author of the game is not known and wont let you open the game then there is a way to disable that safety setting in your settings which will let you install and open the game.
it's a overly complicated clusterfuck. KerbalSpacePrgram went that rout and it sucked a fat dick. Give me the BotoMatic WonderThumperMaker! where you pick the parts and it does the rest. I refuse to program A-Fucking i. fuck around with a fucking awkward Blender wannabe. It sucks a fat as dick in Blender. and KSP.
Go to the Robot Rumble 2 discord and download areans and bots that other people have already made. I love this game and I haven't had to build a single bot.
